The king fled the castle ignoring the rising death toll. Rumor has it that she was having an affair with a young man in town when she died and that she was with child, making that child sole heir to the Temerian empire. They soon realized that the creature was coming from the crypt within the castle, where the king's sister Queen Adda was laid to rest. Before long, citizens started disappearing throughout all of Temeria. Six years ago, stable hands started vanishing at the castle above the city. Rather than kill the beast, she wanted Geralt's help in saving it.

Triss offered him a second chance at actual love, completely unaffected by the magical forces of the djinn's wish that bonded Geralt and Yennefer to each other.Triss Merigold sought out the help of Geralt of Rivia, a renowned witcher, as Temeria was terrorized by a creature of unknown origin. Geralt's tumultuous relationship with Yennefer was at times questionable, and the value and strength of their emotional bond was uncertain because of its origins. Adjusting the lore and taking Yennefer out of the picture for two of the three games gave players a chance to explore Geralt's relationship with Triss and potentially offer her something the original story never gave her: a relationship with a man who started out as a curiosity and wound up wrapping himself tightly around her heart.Īs a character, Triss is the personification of a second chance, especially when one considers that one of her greatest claims to fame was not actually dying at the Battle of Sodden Hill. Yennefer and Geralt were meant to live happily ever after in their Avalon hideaway. Triss' hold over Geralt in the games was entirely dependent upon the player's choices, as in Sapkowski's canon. If Geralt chose Yennefer, Triss was emotionally crushed, but she still made herself available to help with Ciri. If he chose to pursue his relationship with Triss, the two of them settled down in Kovir. She became a leader for the mage underground, and with Yennefer back in the picture, Geralt was presented with the option to either pursue his old flame, continue his romance with Triss or play them both. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Triss and Geralt separated after he regained his memories.
During her investigation, Triss was abducted by one of the game's antagonist, Letho, and though she managed to escape, she was taken again later taken by a Nilfgaardian spy named Cynthia. In Flotsam, Triss aided Geralt in his fight against the kayran before her suspicions led her to attempt to investigate her fellow sorceress, Sile de Tansarville. They met up again before setting sail for Flotsam with Vernon Roche. She and Geralt assisted King Foltest in his attack on La Valette castle, but they were separated during a dragon attack. Appearing during the prologue, she and Geralt were lovers regardless of the choices made in the first game. Triss also played a major role in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. If he chose Triss, the two were able to pursue a relationship. Sources were people born with uncontrollable magical abilities powerful enough to drive them mad if they couldn't learn to master them, and when Alvin's power was discovered, Geralt had the option to allow either Triss or Shani to help the boy. Throughout the game, there's potential to foster a sexual and romantic relationship between Triss and Geralt, depending upon Geralt's choices with a young boy named Alvin, a Source like Pavetta and Cirilla. In the first Witcher game, Triss was with the witchers when they found Geralt unconscious in the woods outside Kaer Morhen. When Ciri entered into a strange trance state and Triss attempted to connect with her telepathically, the power Ciri displayed was too much for Triss to handle, knocking her unconscious for several hours. Things were tense between them for a time, but she set her feelings aside to focus on Ciri. During her time at Kaer Morhen, Triss struggled with her feelings for Geralt, though he refused to give in to them because of Yennefer.
